I've been flying RC for almost 14 years, mostly FPV. What got me into RC in the first place was seeing the original DJI Phantom — I had to have one and learn how to fly it. Not long after, I discovered cameras, video transmitters, and screens, and I had to figure out how to make it all work together so I could see exactly what the drone saw as it flew. That curiosity led me to convert my Phantom to FPV, and shortly after I built my first FPV mini quad. Over the years I've flown pretty much every corner of the hobby — quads, wings, and planes. If it flies and I can stick a camera on it, I'll fly it. Fast or slow, big or small, doesn't matter.
Having worked in IT and web development for almost 30 years, I really enjoy the building and programming side of this hobby too. Current versions of Betaflight, iNav, and EdgeTX have come a long way. For gear, I'm running a Radiomaster TX16s MK3 radio at the moment, and I've used the TBS Crossfire RC link for nearly my whole time in the hobby. I prefer digital over analog and fly either DJI or Caddx Walksnail VTX systems. My favorite things to fly right now would have to be the ImpulseRC Apex 5" for freestyle, or the Rekon 5" LR for cruising. On the plane side, I've been really enjoying the TBS Chupito and the Alight Wings FlikWing — one gives me speed, the other gives me endurance.
Aside from flying, I've had the pleasure of working with Jack Ferland for many years, helping bring the PSL RC Hobby Group to life. I've served as the club's president of the multirotor and FPV section for many years now. This part of the hobby has brought me a lot of joy — meeting new people, making longtime friends, and helping teach new pilots. Myself and the many other members of the club are incredibly fortunate that the city of Port St. Lucie has given us such a wonderful piece of property to fly on. And we're just as fortunate to have Jack Ferland, whose hard work, determination, and love for sharing this hobby has meant so much to so many of us. I can't say enough good things about him.
