The AMA Foundation has a variety of funds that our dedicated donors can choose to support. The ability to choose which fund they contribute to allows each donor to directly impact causes that mean the most to them.

AMA Foundation Funds
 

The AMA Foundation General Fund allows the AMA Foundation maximum flexibility to make the most impact. Donations to this fund are unrestricted in use, allowing AMA Foundation staff to apply dollars to areas of greatest need, such as the development of a new program or the acquisition of an important museum object or artifact. 

The AMA Foundation General Fund also provides financial support for necessary administrative and fundraising costs, so staff can continue to push the AMA Foundation's mission forward.

The AMA Foundation Programs Fund provides support to all AMA charitable programs and initiatives, including the following areas:

  • Club grants and assistance, such as Disaster Relief Grants, Flying Site Improvement Grants, Club Recognition & Reward Grants, and the Al Kanser AMA AED Save A Life Grant
  • Educational programming, events, and initiatives, such as STE(A)M curriculum development and distribution and the AMA Model Aviation Experience sponsored by Wing simulator trailer
  • Capacity-building initiatives at and for AMA, such as maintaining and improving the International Aeromodeling Center and enabling staff to better serve members

The AMA Foundation Museum Patron Program Fund provides direct support to the National Model Aviation Museum. Contributions support the museum's mission to preserve and showcase the history of model aviation to visitors, students, and communities. You have the option of becoming a Museum Patron at the $25 Patron level, $100 Supporting level, or become a Museum Life Patron for a one-time payment of $1,000.

The AMA Foundation Endowment Fund provides predictable funding in perpetuity to the AMA Foundation. The fund is structured so that the principal amount invested remains intact, while the investment earnings are available for operational and program use. The Endowment Fund allows the AMA Foundation to draw investment earnings for permanent operational support and expenses, so that annual donations go directly to charitable programs.

The AMA Foundation Education Fund directly supports the educational efforts made by AMA and the AMA Foundation. Propelling education through aviation is a key goal of the AMA Foundation, and the effects of AMA's award-winning educational efforts are visible throughout the hobby community.

The AMA Foundation Museum Fund allows the AMA Foundation to directly support the National Model Aviation Museum in Muncie, Indiana. Established in 2001, the AMA Walk of Fame at the International Aeromodeling Center in Muncie, Indiana, is designed in the shape of a large propeller and signifies the history of our hobby with honored and memorialized names. 

Purchasing a brick in the Walk of Fame permanently includes your name, or the name of an honoree, along this scenic walk. It's a permanent testimony to your continuing support of the hobby. Walk of Fame bricks are available in different shapes, colors, and materials. 

Gifts made through Walk of Fame brick purchases go toward maintaining, updating, and sustaining the AMA Walk of Fame.

Additionally, this fund provides some support for necessary administrative and fundraising costs, so staff can continue to push the AMA Foundation's mission forward.

The AMA Foundation Scholarship Fund has helped graduating seniors and currently enrolled post-secondary students achieve their dreams since 1970 by awarding more than $1.5 million in scholarships. 

Scholarships are created through funds donated by aeromodeling organizations, individuals, AMA members, corporations, and a portion of AMA member dues. Gifts to the AMA Foundation Scholarship Fund go toward the creation of multiple individual scholarships.

The Cliff and Nancy Telford Scholarship is given annually to the individual with the best competitive record, based on participation in activities within the AMA and FAI classifications. Both graduating high school seniors and currently enrolled post-secondary students are eligible for this scholarship.

The Cliff Telford Scholarship Fund was created in 2007 after the death of Control Line and RC Pylon pilot Cliff Telford; it was renamed to also honor Nancy Telford in 2022. Gifts to this fund go directly toward the funding and awarding of this specific scholarship.

The Ryan M. Sherrow Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior based on their overall involvement in the hobby of model aviation. 

The Ryan M. Sherrow Memorial Scholarship Fund was created to honor the memory of the late Ryan Sherrow, who was a talented, young RC pilot and dedicated club member. Gifts to this fund go directly toward the funding and awarding of this specific scholarship.

The Basil & Dorothy Cooper Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a currently enrolled post-secondary student pursuing an engineering or other technical degree related to STE(A)M. 

The late Basil Cooper Jr. established this scholarship in memory of his parents. Gifts to this fund go directly toward the funding and awarding of this specific scholarship.

The Charles H. Grant Scholarship is awarded based on several important criteria. All facets of an application's background are taken into consideration. A well-rounded applicant may be more qualified than one who excels in only one aspect. This scholarship is only available to graduating high school seniors and is awarded to multiple applicants annually.
